Can you use flexible tile adhesive on concrete floors?
When using flexible tile adhesive on a concrete surface, you can apply ARDEX X 77. ARDEX X 77 is specifically formulated to have enhanced adhesion properties and flexibility. The advanced slump resistance properties make ARDEX X 77 ideal for fixing large format floor and wall tiles. As large format tiles continue to grow in size and popularity, so do the fixing challenges they present. ARDEX Fibre-reinforced Flexible Tile Adhesives are designed and engineered to meet these challenges, allowing modern tiles to be fixed with ease whilst also providing additional performance benefits that support modern fixing practices. ARDEX X 77 also reduced the risk of efflorescence due to the addition of special additives. In addition, it can be used over concrete at least 7 days old, screeds, and renders after 16 hours. However, before placing tiles adhesive over concrete, make sure first to remove all the dust and debris to ensure that the adhesive sticks properly.
Is flexible tile adhesive waterproof?
Most tile adhesives and grout are water resistant but not waterproof. They do not swell, crack or get damaged if they get wet but they won’t stop water from passing through onto the substrate. Therefore, you need to waterproof the substrate before the tiles are installed. If the substrate is not waterproof, the water will then pass through the substrate and may lead to further problems.
While ARDEX 77 fibre-reinforced  flexible tile adhesive can be applied to waterproofed walls and floors that is suitable for wet areas such as swimming pools or showers. You can further use our epoxy tile grout to fill in the space between the tiles to secure it from water, bacteria, dust and chemicals. As a brand of choice for every construction project, Ardex provides the material supplies you need to complete a high-quality job.
