Substrates must be flat, solid and stable. All loose particles, oil, grease, paint, wax or any substance that may inhabit adhesion must be removed. Extremely porous and powdery substances (e.g. gypsum or prefabricated panels, etc.) should be treated before laying tiles with ABA Ready-Mixed Wall Tile Adhesive.
It is advisable to allow screeds and renders to cure for at least 7 days for every centimeter thickness before installing tiles with ABA Ready-Mixed Wall Tile Adhesive.
APPLICATION OF THE MIX
To achieve good adhesion, firstly, apply a thin coat of READY-MIXED WALL TILE ADHESIVE firmly onto the substrate using the straight edge of the trowel followed immediately with the approximate amount of adhesive to achieve a thickness not exceeding 3mm. The correct notched trowel size to use will depend on the type and size of the tiles.
COVERAGE
The approximate quantity of READY-MIXED WALL TILE ADHESIVE for bonding:
- Small size tile about mosaic is 1.5 kg/m2
- Normal size tile is 2-3 kg/m2
- Spot bonding of panel is 1-2 kg/m2 .
The coverage is also affected by the condition of the substrate.
DRYING TIME
Approximately 24 hours, at 23°C and 50% relative humidity. Allow longer for dense tiles/substrates, humid climates and low temperatures.
